terms

last updated 9 june 2026

the short version

these terms cover your use of bodhilock — the app and this website. by using bodhilock, you agree to them. in plain language: bodhilock helps you spend less time in distracting apps by keeping them locked until you complete a short meditation. it's a tool to support your own intention, not medical or mental-health advice. subscriptions are billed through the app store, not by us. you can stop using bodhilock, and delete your data, at any time.

who we are

bodhilock is operated by maximilian hug, stückistrasse 11, 6442 gersau sz, switzerland. you can reach us at support@bodhilock.com. these terms are an agreement between you and us.

using bodhilock

you may use bodhilock for your own personal, non-commercial use. you need to be at least 16 years old; if you're younger, please only use bodhilock with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

you agree not to misuse the app — for example, don't try to copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell, or interfere with it, and don't use it in any unlawful way.

what bodhilock is — and isn't

bodhilock offers meditation and digital-wellbeing tools. it is not medical, psychological, or mental-health advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it is not a substitute for care from a qualified professional. if you are struggling with your mental or physical health, please speak to a doctor or another qualified professional. if you are in crisis, contact local emergency services or a crisis line.

bodhilock uses apple's screen time features to lock and unlock the apps you choose. it's a tool to support the limits you set for yourself — you remain in control of, and responsible for, how you use your device. don't rely on bodhilock for anything safety-critical, and don't lock apps you may need to reach in an emergency.

your account and data

bodhilock creates an anonymous account so it can save your sits and your lock schedules. you can permanently delete your account and its data from within the app at any time. how we handle your data is explained in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

subscriptions and payments

bodhilock offers an optional paid subscription. purchases are made through the app store and are processed by apple, not by us — apple handles billing, renewals, cancellations, and refunds, and your purchase is also subject to apple's terms.

the current price, billing period, and any free-trial length are shown in the app before you buy. paid subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. you can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in your app store account settings (settings → apple id → subscriptions); cancelling stops future renewals but doesn't refund the current period. where a free trial is offered, it is available once per apple id.

our content and rights

bodhilock — including the app, its design, text, and the other content we provide — belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. we grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for its intended purpose. the readings and teachings in the app are original or drawn from public-domain sources. "bodhilock" and our logo are our marks; please don't use them without our permission.

third-party services

bodhilock relies on third-party services to work — for example apple (app store, screen time) and our infrastructure and payment providers. we are not responsible for those services, and your use of them may be subject to their own terms.

disclaimers

bodhilock is provided "as is" and "as available." to the fullest extent allowed by law, we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will produce any particular result. nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under mandatory consumer-protection law.

limitation of liability

to the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your use of bodhilock. nothing here excludes or limits our liability where the law does not allow it — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

changes

we may update the app and these terms from time to time. when we change these terms, we'll update the date above and post the new version here. if you keep using bodhilock after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms.

ending your use

you can stop using bodhilock, and delete your account and data, at any time. we may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms or use the app unlawfully.

governing law

these terms are governed by the laws of switzerland, and any dispute will be subject to the courts of the canton of schwyz. this does not affect any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.
